Is this a reply to a thread? I'm lost.

Bugbatter, Redneckwoman has sent me a private message requesting help with her AVAST antivirus program. When I replied to her private message, and included a link, the link would not open. This is some sort of bug in the new forum.  So I PM her that I would place the link that she requested here in this thread.

Good point. I have received a number of PM's asking for help. Folks are having trouble finding a way to post on the new forum and others who are posting are not receiving replies. The new forum is difficult to navigate and users are still trying to figure out how this all works. And when users need help they make contact any way that they can.

Oh, I see.

It is suggested on other security forums that problems are not handled via PM. Perhaps links are disabled here to protect members from others who might send bad links in PM's.?  Otherwise, some nasty person could PM members, say he was working for Dell, and a link he includes might infect people.  Because the conversation is hidden, that is a dangerous way to give help and receive help.

It might be good if you report that in one of the forums that is asking for comments on the new software.  If you try to handle the problems yourself privately, Dell will not know how many people are really having trouble with the new software.  Several members have posted "How To" tutorials and links to information explaining how to post on the new forums.  If people don't let us know they are having trouble, we can't steer them in the right direction to help them learn how to post.

There is a list of articles  HERE

Bugbatter, Read the entire thread. I was not able to go back to the beginning page.  This represents what I have been reading on many forums about the new forum. Maybe Dell is not reading this. It is here for them to read so it looks like folks are making their opinions known.
