AVG problem
A couple of months ago I had an issue with some spyware/viruses and folks on this forum advised me to install AVG which I did. I have had no problem with it until now. I just checked for updates to it and the new definitions window appeared so I attempted, as I always have, to download and install the new updates. However, this time I received a message telling me that a .bin file is missing and I am not protected. I have no idea what this is nor do I know why, out of the blue, all of a sudden I am missing it. It appears to be related to the update manager.
As I mentioned I am being warned that I am not protected (not a good thing!) and I have no idea how to restore the .bin file. Can someone please assist me?
Thank you!

the problem is widespread:
"Apparently there is an issue with one of the update files, specifically "u7iavi1616oo.bin", as such AVG has pulled the file from public download. AVG is aware of the issue and is working to correct the matter.
Reinstalling will not resolve the issue - just wait a day and try updated tomorrow".
I've found (via google) one thread that contains an alleged fix. several people there have tried it, and it seems to be working. however, i cannot personally vouch for it. if you wish to proceed/try, at your own risk, that's your prerogative.
I think waiting the day might be more prudent --- but if you wish, see the post by nylaker here:

You are the second person here to report this same problem (missing .bin file related to the update manager).
I suggest you check the avg forums, to see just how common this problem is... and if it's not already being considered, register/report there.
i'll try to keep an eye on things there too.

Hi,
I'm new here, but, I just tried the fix and it seems to be working for me. If anything changes I'll let everybody know.
