BEFORE POSTING YOUR HIJACKTHIS LOG, RUN THROUGH THESE INSTRUCTIONS

FREE VIRUS CHECKERS

Run the Symantec virus scanner
* If asked, click GO
* Under Virus Detection, click START
* Click install for both ActiveX Controls and Virus Definitions
* Notate any virus found

Run the eTrust Antivirus Web scanner
* Install ActiveX if asked
* Insert a check to Local Disk C:
* Click start scan
* Notate any virus found

FREE SPYWARE & MALWARE CHECKERS

Run the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool
* Click Skip the details and run the tool
* Click Check My PC for Infection
* Notate any found

* Run the Spy Sweeper Scan
* Click start spy audit
* Click Run
* Click Run

Install and run the Ad-Aware software
* Once installed, click Start- All Programs- Lavasoft Ad-Aware SE Personal- Ad-Aware SE Personal
* Click Cancel to any messages
* On the bottom right, click Check for updates now
* Click Connect
* Update if any are found
* Click Finish
* Click Start
* Click Next
* Click Show Logfile
* Click the Scan Summary tab
* Insert a check into all the squares
* Click Next
* Click OK
* Close Ad Aware

Install and run the Spybot - Search & Destroy software
* Once installed, click Start- All Programs- Spybot - Search & Destroy- Spybot - Search & Destroy
* The first time you run this, click Next- Next- Next- Next- Start using the program
* Click Search for Updates
* Click Ok if none found. Click Download Updates if found
* On the left, click Search & Destroy
* Click Check for problems
* If any are found, click Fix selected problems. If not, close Spybot

HIJACKTHIS INSTRUCTIONS

If your still having issues, go here and follow the instructions to create and post a HijackThis log on the HijackThis board. NOT the Virus/Spyware Information and Removal board

FREE WINDOWS & REGISTRY CLEANERS

NOTE - These two programs are for advanced users. Please backup your registry before running these. If you are not comfortable running these, then don't.

Install and run the CleanUp! software which will clean the system
* On the left click Downloads
* Scroll down and click CleanUp**.exe (If the downloads are not available, just skip this)
* Click Run and follow the prompts
* Once installed, click Start- All Programs- CleanUp!- CleanUp!
* Click Options
* Check everything except for "Favorite Places/Bookmarks
* Click OK
* Click Cleanup!
* Click No
* Click Close

* Install and run the RegSeeker program which will clean your registry
* Click DOWNLOAD
* Click Save- Desktop- Save
* Click Start- My Computer or double click the My Computer icon
* Open C:
* Click File- New- Folder
* Name it Downloads
* Move the downloaded RegSeeker.zip into the newly created folder, C:\Downloads
* Open the Downloads folder
* Right click the the file RegSeeker.zip
* Click "Extract Here"
* Open the RegSeeker folder
* Double-click RegSeeker.exe to run the program
* Click "Clean the Registry"
* Check everything
* Click OK!
* Click Select all- Select all
* Press the delete key on your keyboard
* Click OK
