Hi hisopo22, Welcome to Dell forum, if you still need help please follow these directions.
First, here is what Symantec has to say:
http://sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/pf/adware.dealhelper.html So you will have an idea of how you got it. Symantec must miss it because it is adware. Ad-aware or Spybot either one should have dealt with this item. I will give you some information about that later, let's get rid of it for now.
Read this:
http://castlecops.com/startuplist-122.html If this is in Add Remove programs, please uninstall it.
1) Download CCleaner from this link:
http://www.ccleaner.com/ Take the time to review the instructions on the download page so that when I ask you to run it you will know what you are doing.
2) I am not sure if TrojanGuard will try to block the fix, if so you will have to turn it off until you are done with HJT.
3) Open Hijack this and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
SHOW HIDDEN FILES: Follow the instructions in the link to enable hidden files for your operating system.
You may wish to reverse this process if you have any concern about anyone getting into these hidden system files.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html
RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\Program Files\
AdDestroyer\ >>> folder
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\
BFYWOM.exe >>> file
Run CCleaner then restart the computer and post a new log in this same thread along with any feedback you have. Let us know how you are running now.
I did all the things that you requested. I hope that I am free from problems now
here is the scan that I did after with Hijack this
Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1
Scan saved at 8:46:54 PM, on 4/18/05
Platform: Windows 98 SE (Win9x 4.10.2222A)
MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP1 (6.00.2800.1106)
Hi hisopo22, Your log is clean...good job. :smileyhappy: I want to call your attention to the fact that you have a lot of programs running everytime you boot that I will bet you do not use that often. Especially the Roxio stuff. You can either go into the program and cause it not to run or use msconfig:
http://netsquirrel.com/msconfig/ to turn them off and use Start Programs when you need them. Having a Compaq 7360 with 98SE as one of my backup computers I know how important resources are to Win98SE. Use the information in the links below to learn which programs are not needed at startup. Leave system programs and security programs alone though.

When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed follow these instruction:
