Interesting article, though it speaks more to different computer platforms rather than different browsers, per se.

You are absolutely correct.  The point I was trying to make was that you can't hide.  If "they" want to find you they will.

I agree, that if the hacker wants to get you, they will... regardless of operating system, or browser.

for one thing, the more a system/browser is advertised as being "impenetrable", the greater the incentive (ego-wise) is for some hacker to prove them wrong.

likewise, despite all the people who believe FireFox is the ultimate solution to all browser security problems, i'm willing to bet that, as soon as Firefox reaches a sufficient threshold in the browser market (say, 30% to 40%), we'll suddenly see a marked increase in 'attacks' there, as it will be more 'profitable' (time-wise, and/or damage-wise) for hackers to do so.

Here's a 'wild' story:

A company had offered $25,000 for the first virus that automatically spreads among Apple Computer computers running the OS X operating system.
But they had second-thoughts, cancelled the virus writing contest and retracted the offer of cash, citing concerns about legal liability.

sure enough, firefox has been 'attacked':
