I agree, that if the hacker wants to get you, they will... regardless of operating system, or browser.
for one thing, the more a system/browser is advertised as being "impenetrable", the greater the incentive (ego-wise) is for some hacker to prove them wrong.
likewise, despite all the people who believe FireFox is the ultimate solution to all browser security problems, i'm willing to bet that, as soon as Firefox reaches a sufficient threshold in the browser market (say, 30% to 40%), we'll suddenly see a marked increase in 'attacks' there, as it will be more 'profitable' (time-wise, and/or damage-wise) for hackers to do so.
