Hello sunmaiden:

You might be having the same problem I had but maybe a little different as well...

My screen goes from active to inactive all by itself so I ended up running selective startup (msconfig) and unchecked a bunch of things to see if the problem would continue. The problem no longer occured but then there were more problems that arose such as I could no longer run my Norton correctly and I couldn't access "secured" websites any longer. Sites like webmail, banking sites, my account info, credit card info sites, etc. I could no longer access all this info because of one item that I didn't check. The item was entitled "ccApp" in the startup. If you click start and then run and type msconfig and click OK and go into the startup tab make sure that you have ccApp checked and then you should be able to access those sites again. It worked for me anyway, but ofcourse now my screen goes from active to inactive every 60 or so seconds, very annoying, the only way to get back to the old screen is to click back inside the screen to re-activate it...

Anyone ever heard of this problem before?

I believe the ccApp program has to do with my Norton AntiVirus program and I obviously need it so now I need to find out how I can stop the active-inactive screen thing from happening...

Any advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks,

RW

:smileyvery-happy:I'm so happy.  After 8 days of being SO mean to my computer, Dell, Microsoft, my bank, etc etc. I was able to find the problem on my own.  It was really really hard.  Here is what I did to fix it.

1. start > control panel> administrative tools > services >

2. started DNS services

3. started HTTPS SSL

4.  uninstall Norton Symantec completely - did not reinstall

I have no idea how these two services were disabled; could have been the two trojans I found last weekend with a new program called AVG Anti Virus.  Symantec did NOT find it, that is why I got rid of that program.

How did you get your situation resolved?

I just repaired a customers Dell laptop w. this very problem. Had to do w. registering a couple of .dll's that were corrupted during a failed MSN authentication process.

All the best,
