cannot access my computer or anything on desktop
Several days ago we had severe power surges. I do have a surge protector on but apparently something happened to my computer. I am running Dimension 8300 - the desktop loads but nothing on it can be opened. I have been able to run Nortons, adaware and some other stuff I have and they all show nothing. If I hit ctrl/alt/delete a message comes up that says the start page is protected (something I did not do) norton disk dr cannot run because it says something else has control. The d drive or floppy will not be recognised.
anyone got any ideas what has happened.

Power everything off. Disconnect any scanners, cameras, printers, speakers, etc. The only thing that should be connected to the tower is the monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Power the monitor on, then the computer. Look at the rear of the tower. Waht color are the four ABCD lights?
