Cannot remove Trojan

Question

I have been fighting a bug on my daughter's notebook that keeps coming back. I believe it is a variation of the Dropper.generic family. The browser keeps getting blank popups and the browser is actiing weird.

I am reviewing your log.
In the meantime, you can help me by doing the following:

* Have you have posted this log on another forum? If so, please provide a link to the topic.

* If you are using any cracked software, please remove it.
Definition of cracked software:

* If you are using any P2P (file sharing) programs, please remove them before we clean your computer.
The nature of such software and the high incidence of malware in files downloaded with them is counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state.

* If this computer belongs to someone else, do you have authority to apply the fixes we will use?

* Have you already fixed entries using HijackThis? If so, please restore all the backups and then post another log. Please do not do anything else until you get further instructions.

* After we begin working, please print or copy all instructions to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out procedures.
Please follow all instructions in sequence, and do not run any fixes or scanners on your own because this may cause conflicts with the tools that I am using.

* If your replies do not fit in one post while we are handling your issue, please reply to yourself until all text is submitted. It may take several posts.

* Your Hijackthis is on the Desktop and needs to be in a folder where it can save a Backups folder. Rightclick on an empty space on your desktop and choose New > Folder
Name it HijackThis (HJT, or whatever)
Rightclick HijackThis.exe, choose Cut.
Doubleclick (to open) the folder you created.
Rightclick inside and choose Paste.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users

Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
- Close browsers before scanning.
- Scan for tracking cookies.
- Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
- Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
- Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
- If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
- Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log.
Click Close to exit the program.

Hello,
To answer your questions, I have not posted this topic to another forum. I have also followed your other instructions and download SuperAntiSpyware to see what it finds. I tried Stopzilla and it found 74 infections, but I did not purchase the package to repair the infections because they are playing the rebate game with the purchase price.

I am now going to run theSuperAntiSpyware scan and will let you know.

Hello,
I did download, load and scan my computer with SuperAntiSpyware and found over 70 infected. I performed the process to quarrantine them. I ran it a second time and everything looked clear. Since I had earlier seen over 200 infected using Stopzilla I ran it again. Stopzilla shows over 90 infections still on the machine. Is Stopzilla misleading or is it more effective in finding Trojans, spyware and adware? I really don't want to pay for Stopzilla if it does not complete clean out all the infected files.

Did you get a chance to look at the HighjackThis output I posted?

I recommend Super Anti-Spyware over STOPZilla. I do not like any program that makes the victim PAY for removal of the items. There are free ones out there that do an excellent job.

To answer your other question, the only log I've seen is the first one you posted. Where did you post the two that I requested??
