Cannot uninstall program

Trying to uninstall NortonAnti-Virus Corporate Edition from my computer and cannot get rid of it thru add/remove or manually.  Have infected files with W32beagle.m@mm and this has corrupted the knlwrap module.  I have worked on this all day and cannot resolve.  I ran the removal tool twice and after the second time Symantec didn't even recognize anti-virus on my computer.  What are my choices before I crash the whole thing and re-install.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

rajahro,

Have you tried removing it from within safemode?

I tried in safe mode and no luck there either.  I think I may be left with the option of a clean installation.  Just wanted to not do that if I could help it.  I think I have more than one thing on my computer of the nasty kind.  The first one must have disabled my anti-virus and that is preventing me from getting rid of it.

Thanks.

Hello rajahro ,

Before going through all the trouble of a clean install try this first: run one or both of these online antivirus scans.

House Call, or Panda Software.

Let them fix whatever they find.

You don't say which version of Windows you're using, but if it is XP, you may also try doing to restore back to a point before you were infected with the virus.

Good luck, hope this helps.

Thank you! I had never herd of House Call or Panda.  Norton finally sent me instructions on the detailed registry edits which I completed and I did that first,  I ran Panda and it found 12 infections,  and I still ran House Call and it found more.  I finally got to the point of being able to re-install McAfee which I purchased and had to remove the other day because of the conflict with Norton.  I have run 2 scans with it and I am clean now.  Thanks so much.  Never tried this forum before and am impressed with the knowledgeable people who check this.  Thanks again.
