Chrome to block cookies

Chrome is finally getting around to blocking 3rd party cookies.  Third-party cookies are used to track users around the web, building up a detailed profile of them that could include not only interests but also deeply personal information such as gender, sexuality, religion, political affiliation, etc.

Google will role out the new feature slowly, starting with ~1% of users, and build up the numbers during 2024.

Obviously ad companies and those that do the tracking, as well as a UK competition authority, aren't happy, saying that this gives an unfair advantage to Google's own advertising business.
