Computer Shutting Down Automatically

Question

My friend has a computer that every few minutes, her computer automatically shuts down.  She ran the Sasser removal tool and it said that it did not have that virus.  Does anyone know of another virus that automatically shuts down a computer and then automatically restarts it?  Please let me know.  Thanks! Missy brett.missy@verizon.net

I believe Blaster had similar symptoms. Did she run Stinger (which would also have detected and removed Blaster), or some Sasser only removal tool?

She only ran the Sasser tool.  I will tell her to run the Stinger one too.  Do you have to be in safe mode in order to run the Stinger tool?
