Connection times out often

Question

I have Comcast cable, and have had it checked.  They say the problem is with the computer.  When I log on, it takes a full minute to bring up the screen.  I go to, say, CNN, and it is fine.  Then, when I try and bring up a story, it sometimes just sits there and times out.  I hit back, retry the story, and it loads up.  This has been going on for about two months.  Any assistance would be appreciated.  Oh, I also changed the modem connection on the computer....no difference.  Thanks in advance!

Are you using norton internet security 2004-2006?Is the parental control activated?That can slow you down while it checks to see if that site is safe.Have you ran any adware or spyware programs to check if you got any using up your bandwith?What broswer do you use?Windows 98-XP home or professional?If you can go to a site but links don't open that's not comcast problem.

Have XP Home.   No partental controls are in place.   Have StopZilla, but it was running fine before.  Hope this helps find a solution...
