Defender or AVG?

I just got a new e1505 and saw vista comes with a anti-virus of its own. Just from personal experience I have always liked AVG. Been using the free version for many years on my older laptop. What I wanna know is which is better for Vista? AVG or the standard windows defender? Is windows defender slightly better then AVG? I use Firefox and use the vista firewall till a compatable firewall is released from Comodo or ZoneAlarm. I have only had 1 virus in the 12 years of using windows pc's. Thanks for any opinions and help.

Speaking in general (that is to say, not about Vista specifically):

Windows Defender is considered an anti-SPYWARE program.   It's fine to run it along with AVG Anti-VIRUS.   They complement each other nicely.

Ok, I thought defender was MS version of a virus scanner like AVG. Thanks for the reply :)

From the microsoft site:

"Windows Defender is a free program that helps protect your computer against pop-ups, slow performance, and security threats caused by spyware and other unwanted software. It features Real-Time Protection, a monitoring system that recommends actions against spyware when it's detected and minimizes interruptions and helps you stay productive."

Windows defender and Avg (virus protector) work well together.

Isn't Zone Alarm (Now Checkpoint) ZoneAlarm 7.+ now compatible with Vista?

Your e1505 probably comes with a trial version anti-virus. You can remove that and install AVG Free Anti-virus.
