Welcome. Thank you for using Dell Community Forums. Father Christmas 2

* Have you have posted this log on another forum? If so, please provide a link to the topic.

* If you are using any cracked software, please remove it.
Definition of cracked software:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_cracking

* If you are using any P2P (file sharing) programs, please remove them before we clean your computer.
The nature of such software and the high incidence of malware in files downloaded with them is counter productive to restoring your PC to a healthy state.

* Have you already fixed entries using HijackThis? If so, please restore all the backups and then post another log. Please do not do anything else until you get further instructions.

* After we begin working, please print or copy all instructions to Notepad in order to assist you when carrying out procedures.
Please follow all instructions in sequence, and do not run any fixes or scanners on your own because this may cause conflicts with the tools that I am using.

* If your replies do not fit in one post while we are handling your issue, please reply to yourself until all text is submitted. It may take several posts.

I do not see any active malware in this log, but we can look deeper.

First, let's get your Java updated. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malware can use to infect your system. It is possible that you may be running Java code in your applications that absolutely require a specific version of the JRE to run. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update.

Updating Java:

  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u3 allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement".
  • The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each of the Java versions.

  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u3-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

Official JAVA Installation Instructions if needed.

Following that, please RIGHT-CLICK HERE "Save Link As" to download Silent Runners.
  • Save it to the desktop.

  • Run Silent Runner's by doubleclicking the "Silent Runners" on the icon on your desktop.
  • You will receive a prompt:
    • Do you want to skip supplementary searches?click NO
  • You will see a text file appear on the desktop -. Another message box will appear saying: "Silent Runners has started It's not done, let it run (It won't appear to be doing anything!)
  • Once you receive the prompt All Done! The results are in a file that the tool has created You will find it in the same directory as the script or on your desktop. The log is named "Startup Programs (ComputerName) date/timestamp.txt".
  • Open the text file that the tool has created .
  • Copy that entire log, and paste it here.
*NOTE* If you receive any warning message about scripts, please choose to allow the script to run.** Note: If you have a script blocking program you may get a warning asking if you want to allow the script to run. Some will say "malicious script warning" or something to that effect. There is nothing malicious about this script, you can click to allow it to execute.

1. It was requested that HJT backups be restored because you should not have fixed anything. (Some people try DIY fixes and end up masking entries that we need to see in order to do an accurate diagnosis.)

2. Your SilentRunners log did not get posted. Please try that again. Thanks.

Did you install the Registry Cleaner that Super AntiSpyware removed?
When was the last time you ran System Optimizer?

No, I did not.

What do you mean by System Optimizer? I'm guessing since I am not sure, that would be a "I've never ran it."

Should I try reinstalling the software and printer drivers now that we cleaned something up?

System Optimizer came up yesterday as a component of something I was researching in your log. I don't remember exactly what program it was. Maybe TuneUp Software??

It's hard to say what changes that Trial Registry Cleaner made though. You are the only user on there?

Yes, you can give it another try with the printer.
First, run Disk Cleanup in each user's profile:
Click "Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Disk Cleanup"
Please make sure only the following are checked:
-- Downloaded Program Files
-- Temporary Internet Files
-- Recycle Bin
-- Temporary Files
Click "OK" and Disk Cleanup will delete those files for you.

REBOOT, and try the printer. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Still absolutely no luck.  Same error message is displaying.  I don't get it.  I can go to Scanners and Cameras in my Control Panel, and it shows my AIO 962 Scanner, and I can scan from there using the "Scan Wizard"... But it absolutely will not respond to the AIO Center Software which is what I NEED.

Did a firmware update, worked after that.

However, has superiorly slow reaction time when I press scan.

I can scan directly to PDF now though, and that is all I was after.

I've been wondering if the Registry Cleaner that Super AntiSpyware removed changed something somewhere along the way. Did you try uninstalling and doing a clean install of the printer and updated driver again after these latest scans?

are you using network setup?

Also check your firewall.
