Dale,

there are some browser add-ons that try to "weed-out" the good pages from the bad.    these include:

1) McAfee's SiteAdvisor  http://www.siteadvisor.com/

the first two have an option to highlight search result links, using a color-coded system, which roughly corresponds to Green=safe, Yellow=questionable, Red=unsafe.
[Read their documentation for a precise explanation]

the third one actually prevents you from accessing (what they consider to be) a "bad" page, unless you explicitly consent to enter.

You can load either 1 or 2 (but not both), and optionally together with 3.

HOWEVER:
I personally find all three of the above severely deficient in their ratings:   I've encountered safe sites that have been "red-flagged", as well as "bad" sites that were given the green light.   In short, it's probably better than nothing... but I'd still use my own judgment [and common sense] about whether or not to visit a particular site.
