Error driving me crazy. Please help. (HijackThis log)

I have a new XPS 600 and have installed many new programs over the last month. In the last two weeks I have been recieving a RUNDLL32.EXE Application Error that states "the instructions at 0x77dd778e at reference memory 0x77dd778e could not be written, please click to terminate program". The messages appear in what seems to be random intervals in pairs of two but it goes beserk when I try to play a game from the DVD drive. It will allow me to load cds from the drive but not actually play a game. The message does not appear when I am on the internet but does appear when the cpu is idle.

I have run innumerous Virus/spyware/adware/registry scans to no avail. The Dell Hijack this malware tech told me that no malware appears to be present and to submit my hijackthis log here. I have also run hdtune, memtest and dell built in diagnostics including a memory scan, crash scan and sfd/ scannow run application.

sounds like one of the applications you installed has made incompatible registry entries that's affecting rundll32.  What did you install at the time this all began?  You could try a system restore to a point before the problem started to see if that helps.

Hi

Perhaps you can go into MSCONFIG and uncheck the Rundll entry found in the startup tab.

Also make sure the first four options under Security under Advanced Tab in the Internet Properties window are check marked.

hello everyone and thank you for replying, I really appreciate any suggestions you give me. I unfortunately can't remember exactly what programs I installed at the time the error first occurred. It was more like I had left my cpu on all night while I slept and when I woke the next morning it had rebooted with the error message present.

I have removed all items from my start menu except for McAfee but the error still occurs.

I have used restore points before but wether I pick a day or a week prior to the error messages beginning it still comes back in approximately 24hrs.

I just used the a2 trojan detection tool and it showed that I have Scarab trojans in ports 1225 and 1255, Project next in port 1256, NetSpy Mavericks Matrix Remote storm in port 1025, Ultor's Trojan sub7 2.0, Bagle.AF and A backdoor-G sub7 1243 Apocolypse, tiles.

Could this be the cause of my problem?

Even if not, how do I rid myself of these?
