Evil virus-help needed!~

Hi all!  I believe I have a virus and need some tech help!  I'll describe the issue I'm experiencing and hopefully someone will know what to do!!  This is the kids' computer and they can't even use it correctly! Symptoms: Computer runs slowly and frequently causes programs to run incorrectly. When I attempt to access the Control Panel, a text bar comes up with the letters and characters like this 'aaaaaaaaaaaaagggggggggghhhhh????..///' The system goes completely blank and I have to restart. Click HERE to download a self-extractable version of HijackThis.

Double click on hijackthis.exe to extract hijackthis to folder c:\hijackthis.
It will extract it to that folder and open the folder for you.
It will also create a shortcut on your desktop to HijackThis.
It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Click on "Edit , Select All"
then click on "Edit, Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log. Move to a Reply to this forum post and Edit, Paste.

Do not have HijackThis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
