About 97% of the infected machines that we see on the Malware Removal Forum are from computers that have used file sharing.

Bugbatter I wholeheartdly agree but try convincing the millions of people who use such P2P programs as Kazza, Bearshare, WinMX, and the all time favorite Limewire. Im sure theres a few others but for the most part those four name the majority of users out there today it doesnt matter what videos or news show tell you even if youve heard about it or experienced it yourself. People are going to continue to use these programs thinking that they are safe behind their firewalls, spyware/pop-up blockers, anti-virus programs and the like. I think what most people fail to realize is that with the evolution of technology and computers today also comes the tools black hats/hackers need to do the same with new/improved versions of viruses out today no matter the level of protection you have there will always be some risk and no matter how well you protect your machine sooner or later theres going to be something that gets past all your defences using the file sharing programs only increasesthe risk.

Just to add a little sharpness to the point you are making.

The last virus to assault the Mac OSX was a trojan.  The people that received this virus downloaded and installed a cracked copy of a software.  Unix security layers CAN NOT protect you if you use the Super User password to install software.

Just imagine how clean computers would be if people did not use P2P, cracks, and porn.  Often we see systems with all three. What a collection of infection that is!
