As far as blocking sites, if you use IE then IE-SPYADs is one of the ways to go. You should visit the IE-SPYADS site at least once every couple weeks as the list gets updated on a regular basis.
SpywareBlaster is another cannot live without tool. It blocks those nasty ActiveX downloads when you visit a "Nasty" site. The free version does not do automatic updates so every couple weeks you need to run a manual update to see if anything new.
Microsoft Antispyware (FREE) is another good tool to help protect your PC. Don't let the "Beta" name scare you. Down load from
here

Thank you SO much for all the help. I know this took a lot of your time.
My daughter has been burning a lot of CD's lately - if there are any particular sites that I should block please pass those on as well...
