blake,

Let's see what we can do...

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:

1. Click " Free Online Scan".
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".

It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:

1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".

When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

SideFind
TIBS
Viewpoint Manager

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tibs3.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tcslikj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe
wmplayer.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32 /u ceres.dll
regsvr32 /u questmod.dll
regsvr32 /u STLinks.dll
regsvr32 /u SbCIe028.dll

It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.

Before we begin, let's move HiJackThis to it's own folder; like c:\HJT. When we're done ' cleaning' off your system, we're going to ' flush' the temporary folders which, with HiJackThis in it's current location, we'll lose both the program and the backups it creates. These backups are important in case we need to restore any 'fixed' entry(s) later.

Also move the " Backups" folder, for HiJackThis, if present.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Connection Wizard,ShellNext = wmplayer.exe

O23 - Service: Visual IP InSight Client (TDS) - Unknown - C:\Program Files\Visual IP InSight\TDS\LaunchIPI.exe (file missing)

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

C:\Program Files\STLinks

files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\tibs3.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tcslikj.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe
C:\WINDOWS\ceres.dll
C:\WINDOWS\questmod.dll

blake,

You've done excellent work! We just have a few more to go...

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

    SideFind
    Viewpoint Manager

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32  /u  SbCIe028.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {D714A94F-123A-45CC-8F03-040BCAF82AD6} - C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe028.dll

O16 - DPF: {0837121A-6472-43BD-8A40-D9221FF1C4CE} - http://download.sidestep.com/get/k00726/sb028.cab

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

    C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program Files\SbCIe028.dll

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Download mwav.exe from MicroWorld, then:

1.  Double-click the mwav.exe icon to run it ( it'll self extract).
2.  Click " Scan".
3.  When it completes, post back the results from the 'Virus log information' pane.

Post back a new log.

blake,

Try using the mouse to drag-select, then copy, the text in the 'virus log information' pane and post it back.

blake,

If your using a firewall, make sure that every program we're fixing, isn't allowed access back to the internet.

-

Let's take another pass...

Run HiJackThis then:

1.  Click " Config..."
2.  Click " Misc Tools"
3.  Click " Open Process manager"

-

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe
    C:\Program Files\WebSiteViewer\127021.dlr

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32  /u  cerbmod.dll
regsvr32  /u  STIEbar.dll

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {0F9561D0-03B2-44a3-89A6-E95E417CBA25} - C:\WINDOWS\cerbmod.dll
O2 - BHO: STIEbarBHO Class - {D797AD6C-6447-4DB4-91D0-090344408E72} - C:\Program Files\0CAT YellowPages\STIEbar.dll

O3 - Toolbar: 0CAT Yellow Pages - {679695BC-A811-4A9D-8CDF-BA8C795F261A} - C:\Program Files\0CAT YellowPages\STIEbar.dll

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Service] C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Service] C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe

O9 - Extra button: My button - {47FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085EA} - C:\Program Files\0CAT YellowPages\STIEbar.dll
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: My menu - {47FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085EA} - C:\Program Files\0CAT YellowPages\STIEbar.dll

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

    C:\Program Files\0CAT YellowPages
    C:\Program Files\WebSiteViewer

files...

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\prvdi.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\cerbmod.dll

Don't reboot your computer just yet, and post back a new log.

blake,

That log is looking alot better - good work on that! There's still a few entry(s) we need to fix, but nothing major unless we have something else hidden and running. I'm thinking the two entry(s) we're fixing we're inserted into the registry by one of the programs that 'went down' in the previous pass.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

    Viewpoint Toolbar

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://69.50.160.100/
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://69.50.160.100/

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Post back a new log and the results of a new MWAV scan.

blake,

It's no problem at; thanks for being patient with me we work you through this.

-

Sorry about these entry(s), I missed them the last time around. If your not sure what these are, then

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32  /u  STHomePage2.dll
regsvr32  /u  STLinks2.dll

O2 - BHO: HomePageCtrl Class - {1B9CB0F8-118B-49C1-956D-B703E976F8E3} - C:\Program Files\STHomePage\STHomePage2.dll
O2 - BHO: STLinksCtrl Class - {B54BFA47-D897-49CA-9657-05EC9F80A32B} - C:\Program Files\STLinks\STLinks2.dll

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folders...

    C:\Program Files\STHomePage
    C:\Program Files\STLinks

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Post back a new log, this should be the last one. If we're all clear, then all we need to do is some final cleanup, and you should should be good to go.

blake,

Congratulations! Your log looks clean - good work!

If everything is running ok, let's do some cleanup...

1.  Run "Disk Cleanup" and allow it to remove everything it finds.

2.  If you've downloaded MicroWorld AV, run it again - but don't scan, just click "Clear Log" and exit the program.

3.  Go to www.trendmicro.com and click "Free Online Scan", then "Scan now, it's free!". When it's downloaded, select all available drives, then check(tick) "Auto clean", then click "Scan".

4.  Run AdAware SE Personal and "perform a full system scan", then Spybot S&D, and "Check for Problems". Let them both remove the residual 'problems' left that HiJackThis couldn't fix.

5.  Disable, then re-enable system restore; with a reboot in-between. Then immediately create a new system point manually.

If your having any more problems, post back.

Happy surfing,

Mike.
