help! infected w/ magic_ps_v.1.5

Question

my virus scan detected this trojan...grrr we have f-secure virusprotection 2004, the trojan (s) found were Trojan clicker, trojan.psw.sagic.15   the original problem occurred through our yahoo messenger when we were hacked by good ol magic-ps-v.1.5. our virusscan cannot disinfect these files. i am not overly computer savvy and any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

his Trojan generator enables a malicious user to generate executable files, which can steal vital information from a target machine, such as Yahoo user names and passwords. These information is sent to a specified YM user name via the YM client itself.

Uninstall yahoo messenger and install the latest one and also change all your yahoo passwords ASAP!

Please unzip Hijackthis.zip into a new folder you create in the root (first) level of the C: drive. Name this folder HJT for best and safest results. (Note...we have noticed recently some CWS variants are harder to remove unless the shredder is run in Safe Mode...hit F8 while booting to enter Safe Mode and run the shredder.) Make sure you select the button to FIX any items it finds, not the button to scan only!

After cleaning with the shredder in Safe Mode do this:

Reboot in normal mode Windows and download and run these two programs (Spybot S&D and Adaware). Use Spybot first. (1.3 version)

Print out the guide and go slow on the instructions to set up the custom scan options for Adaware. These settings will be retained for future custom scans so don't go nuts thinking you have to do this every time you run it!

Reboot if asked by either program and let it complete any cleanup. Then reboot a final time after running both and run Windows Disk Cleanup: Start/Run/ type: cleanmgr

I check all the categories at the end of the scan and click OK.

Post back with a new log as a reply to this message (stay in this message posting thread for continuity). Some of your infections will be addressed with these tools, but you must follow the directions exactly to make final manual cleanup easier.

With no other windows open click on fix checked button in Hijackthis.

Exit Hijackthis.

Reboot to SAFE MODE and Show HIDDEN FILES and folders (VERY IMPORTANT!)

Download and run these two programs at the following link (Spybot S&D and Adaware). Use Spybot first.

Chris has posted an excellent tutorial by dgosling on how to run Spybot S&D and also how to enable customized deep scanning functions for Adaware. Once you set these options they will be retained for future scans by Adaware.

Follow the directions in this detailed guide for Spybot and Adaware...print out the guide and go slow on the directions for the custom setup of Adaware:
