Help please: Windows Defender wont start!!!
Hello,
Suddenly Windows Defender wont start on Windows 8.1
When I try to open the application I get this message:
And when I try to start the service from "Services" tab in Task Manager, this message pops up:
And when I try to start the service manually in Services, I get this message:
Please help me!! I am not thinking of re-installing Windows. The laptop is just new.
How to solve this issue? Do I have to re-install Windows Defender? Is it even possible to re-install it?

Let me ask a question to rule out the obvious --- are you running another anti-virus program?... if so, Windows Defender under Win8/8.1 automatically turns itself off, deferring to the other anti-virus program...
