Help- Virus, spyware, something!

Yesterday, a message came up to allow a download (I have no idea what prompted it).  I clicked cancel and my laptop froze (Dell Inspiron- can't remember the model as I am at work).  I turned it off and back on.  Now, I get all these messages saying my computer has been infected and NOTHING works.  Is this fixable or do I need to just purchase a new computer.

If I purchase a new computer, will I be able to safely remove files (text documents and family pictures)?

TIA

Your malware problems can be solved.  Go to the malware removal forum here:

Read the top post on how to post a HijackThis log and then do so.  The pros there can help get rid of just about any virus/spyware/malware problem.
