Help. "winlogin.exe" message when I log on
First time poster here, and I admit a novice as far as computers.
Whenever I log onto my Windows XP, I get the following message:
Windows cannot find 'winlogin.exe.' Make sure you typed the name correctly, and try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Seach. [OK]
I know my Norton anti-virus detected a problem with this file a while ago. Up until it was reported as infectected, I couldn't have even told you that I had this file. (Per my anti-virus software, I put it in Quarantine)
My question is: Is this file something I actually need? If so, how do I get it back (I assume it would be dangerous to remove from quarantine). If not, is there a way to get it so this message does not continue to pop up?

Please read http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/winlogin/
We need to see your HijackThis log file to help you.
Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Download http://216.180.233.153/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe into this folder.
When you run HijackThis from C:\HJT folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary.
