The actual file has been deleted (thank goodness), but I still get that pop up error.  Why?  Also, how come I can't uninstall "Search Assistant" in  Add/Remove Programs?

Hi,
se.dll is part of an about blank infection. The error message would seem to indicate there is still part of it there trying to load the se.dll file.
If you are using 9x, you can use startdreck to find the problem. I don't know what you do on an NT system.

Try this registry fix for the add/remove programs issue.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
=Backup the registry to give a recovery point in case there is a problem.
Save the file to your desktop as fixprob.reg, filetype all files.
Click on the file, say ok when it asks about merging it to the registry.
REGEDIT4
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\SearchAssistant Uninstall]
=Reboot the computer to normal mode.
