Let's start off with this...

1. Download Service Filter from here:

http://home.comcast.net/~rand1038/vbscript/ServiceFilter.zip

2. Extract it to it's own folder.
3. Double-click on ServiceFilter.vbs
4. A text file called POST_THIS will be created in the same folder when it's complete.
5. Click once on POST_THIS, select "Open", then "Edit | Select all", then "Edit | Copy".
6. Please Post them into this thread using 'Add Reply'

First, let's create a restore point and backup the entire registry.

Next, go to " Add/Remove programs" and remove(unistall) the following, if present:

Reboot your computer into " Safe Mode".

Puravida,   That looks better. Good work!      I can see your running SQL, so i'll assume you've installed it.     Now, let's do the final cleanup...   Disable then re-enable system restore, then immediately create a new restore point manually. If you have restore points that you need to keep, skip this step, otherwise, let's 'flush' it. That will ensure that any registry entry(s), or other garbage associated with the 'infection' cannot be indirectly restored.   Run ' DiskCleanup' and allow it to remove anything it finds.   -----   I'd also recommend getting the latest copy of AdAware SE Personal and Spybot S&D, if you haven't already done so, and running them to cleanup anything that might be left on your harddrive or in the registry by the 'infection'.     Post back if your having any more problems.   Good luck,   Mike.

I could be mistaken but if you're still having problems you may have a dialer trojan.
Don't fix it until you get verification from your hijackthis expert.

Boot to Safe Mode.
Run HiJackThis and click Scan and checkmark:

Close all windows except HiJackThis, click Fix checked.

Then go to:
C:\Windows\System32\

and delete:

DSO Exploit found w/ Spybot 5 entries.

Per Chik's reply I booted Safe and Fixed 04-HKLM...twink64.exe, but did not delete the files from C:\Windows\System32\ both twink64.exe and internat.dll. Should I do this? Anything else?

Also, not sure that I did install SQL.

Ok, let's go ahead and delete the following files:

c:\windows/system32\twink64.exe

internat.dll

I'm not sure where internat.dll is located, so you might have to search for it.

Next, let's have Housecall checkout the pc for us. Go to www.trendmicro.com and click "Free Online Scan". It'll take a few minutes to download and install, especially on dialup. When it's down, select all available drives, then click "Scan".

Post back the results, with the new log.

If your not usng the SQL server running on your pc, let's uninstall and remove it.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following if present

SQL Server

Next, we need to make sure you have your connection properties locked down...

Click "Start | Control Panel"

Click "Network and Internet Connections", then "Network Connections".

Right-click on the icon that represents your internet connection (look for 'Connected' next to the icon), then select "Properties".

Uncheck(untick) the following:

Client for Microsoft Networks
File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks

Then click "Ok" until your back out.

(A bar '|' represents another click or option to select. It's a way to shorten a lengthly process when typing. So in an example, you'd click "Start" then "Control Panel")

Post back the results.

Are we finished? Thanks so much for all the help Mike, and Chik thank you too. To prevent this problem again I tried to update and set Norton again, but when it is on I cannot access the internet. Where/who can I get to address this? Thanks again.

Puravida,   That look much better -  Good work!     SQL Server is referenced here. Look on page two, about 1/2 way down. See if this applies...   mondi -   'MICROSOFTBCM is a database used by Microsoft Business Contact Manager add-in for Microsoft Office Outlook 2003. When You install Outlook, SQL Server is installed too. If You want to remove sql server - remove the add-in. Greetings'     Now for cleanup...   I'd recommend disabling, then re-enabling system restore - to 'flush' the current restore points. Then immediately creating one manually.   Use AdAware SE Personal and Spybot S&D to cleanup any registry entry(s) that are left.   Run 'Disk Cleanup', then check and allow it to remove everything it finds.
