HijackThis results - Please help!!

Question

I was told to paste this here for help in getting rid of spyware that continues to popup on my computer even though I've used numerous different types of anti-virus/spyware/adware programs a number of times. The spyware oddly only appears when I use Internet Explorer, and not my other AOL Explorer Browser, which I use more often.  When I use Internet Explorer, though, popups appear saying that I could be susceptible to viruses etc and should download SysProtect.  When I try to click out of it, it just pops up with a continuation, as if I clicked okay, and it does that about 4 times.  It also pops up with a message saying that my computer has a security vulnerability from the W32.Rontokbro.Z@mm and it recommends I download a variety of 'anti-spyware' programs including WinAntiVirus Pro' and WinAntiSpyware.  When this one pops up, it also says my IP address, which browser it came from (Mozilla, even though I removed that program immediately upon installation when it gave me these infections), my PC location, and that the PC Information has been obtained.  On the right it says the latest threats are W32.Spybot.AGEN, W32.Secefa.D, Bloodhound.Exploit.62, Keylogger.Mose, and W32.Stavron.A and I don't know whether any of these are real or if it's a ploy to get me to download the alleged anti-spyware software.  I have run numerous anti-virus and anti-spyware/adware programs a number of times and nothing has gotten rid of it including Norton Anti-Virus, Spybot S&D, Housecall.Trendmicro, AVG, Ad-Aware, and Windows Defender.  I really need to get rid of this and would like any assistance if possible! Last time I had a problem with this, Norton identified it and it's name.  This time, I don't know what it's called or what to look for on my computer.  Please help me. i see you made it here from the virus/spyware forum.

your log shows signs of a former Vundo infection, which has been removed. Did you use VundoFix for that, as I had suggested? If so, please REPLY and include a copy of the C:\VundoFix.txt log that it generated.

[If you did not run vundofix already, there's no need to run it now].

download RegSeeker from:

http://www.hoverdesk.net/dl/en/RegSeeker.zip

UnZip it ... it will create a folder a folder of its own (a RegSeeker folder) containing a bunch of files.

Restart your computer and boot into SAFE Mode...

if SAFE mode allows to you specify a user/login, then log-in with your usual login name.

Hopefully, you'll still be able to locate the RegSeeker folder in SAFE mode.

Go there, and open/run the RegSeeker program.

Click-on Find in Registry...

then place a check-mark in all of the HKEY options

and where it asks about search for , you should type in: NI.UWFX5RS_0001_0808

[if you can, COPY this from here, and PASTE it into there]

and click on SEARCH.
When it finishes, click-on Select ALL... which expands into a small menu from which you need to again choose Select ALL (you should notice some changes in color, as the items found are highlighted).

right click on the highlighted selections and choose Delete Selected Items.

Reboot into regular mode.

it appears you're running Sun Java j2re1.4.2_03 . there is much speculation that a "hole" in this particular version is being exploited by WinFixer. so we should upgrade to the latest version, 1.5.0_06 from http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

my personal preference is to download the MANUAL (OFFline) installation version (16 MB). but if you prefer the online installation, that choice is yours.

AFTER you successfully install the new java, go to your control panel, ADD/REMOVE programs, and UNinstall all older versions of Java (if any) that still show up there.... especially the 1.4.2_03.

when you're done, REPLY here, and post an updated/revised HJT log.

ewdotnet6_38.dll' missing Get lspfix.exe from     Run it and check on I know what I am Doing then move all instances of newdotnet6_38.dll from the left pane to the right then Finish. The line should be gone on your next reboot. Otherwise you log is OK or will be when you get rid of the remnants that KY331 flagged. Ron   A Few Recommendations. You can delete any programs we had you install but leave Hijackthis for now.  You can also run Hijackthis, View the List of Backups and Delete All.  If we used killbox its backup files can be removed now too.  Run Killbox and select File, Cleanup, Delete All Backups.  If you have an antivirus, check its quarantined files and delete any it had found. You should also definitely toggle System Restore Off and then back On. Following site has very clear instructions for turning it off.  To turn it back on you just repeat the instructions but uncheck the box where it says to Turn Off System Restore on all Drives. http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/sfc_dis1.shtml The reason we do this is to remove any archived copies of the infection from System Restore so that if you have to use SYstem Restore to fix a problem you won't accidentally reinfect your system. Then if Hijackthis opens after a boot it will show you any new programs that have been added.  You can then decide if you want to keep them or not.
