Follow Atribune's procedure at:

http://www.atribune.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=447&hl=killvundo

The paths the program asks you for would be:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\xxwuu.dll
and

C:\WINDOWS\System32\uuwxx.*

When Hijackthis comes up check these:
O2 - BHO: MSEvents Object - {52B1DFC7-AAFC-4362-B103-868B0683C697} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\xxwuu.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: xxwuu - C:\WINDOWS\System32\xxwuu.dll

Restart the computer when you get the blue screen.
You will know that it worked if the above lines
Either drop out of the scan or say File Missing. If you see them then check them and Fix Checked.
You have a multiple infection so repeat the vundofix for:
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sstsr.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\rstss.*
O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstsr - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\sstsr.dll

Post a new HijackThis scan when you are done and I will check to see if there is anything else that needs removing.

I have attached my current HJT log. I never got to the blue screen after closing HijackThis following the first KillVundo operation. The the screen went black and the message that the program "sample"  was not responding came up. I restarted in safe mode, ran KillVundo , but the last filepath from the second set listed was not valid.

Well, it looks like it worked anyway.  Your log looks clean.  Is your system running OK?

Make sure you have System Restore running (toggle it off and On today and create a new restore point to get rid of any bad stuff it may have retained) and then you can just go back to an earlier time if you hit a bad site.

One way to make this more obvious is to check everything in your current HijackThis and Add to Ignore List then set up Hijackthis to run at boot and to show you if it finds anything new.  Then you can google on the .dll or .exe file in the entry  and decide if you want to keep it.
To avoid going to a bad site you might want to install IE-SpyAd and SpywareBlaster and make the other changes recommended at:.

I used to recommend Spybot's Immunize system but have recently learned it is not as good as the one at:

Never hurts to do one of the free on line scans from Panda or Trend.  They take a while but are pretty good.

In addition to Microsoft AntiSpy
http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/downloads/default.mspx I like to run Spybot S&D.

Also like to run AdAware once in a while.
