MusicRules,

Hello! and welcome to the Dell forums.

-

Are you saying that AdAware SE Personal is picking up VX2 but isn't able to remove it? Does it give you anymore information about it? What files might be involved?

Go to www.trendmicro.com, and then:

1. Click " Free Online Scan".
2. Click " Scan now, it's free".

It'll take a few minutes to download (especially with a dialup connection), so be patient. When it's down:

1. Select all available drives.
2. Check(tick) " Auto Clean".
3. Click " Scan".

When it completes, post back the full filename of any files that cannot be cleaned or deleted.

Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

Deals Online

The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

Download LSPFix and unzip to your desktop, then run it. Now, we need to:

1. check(tick) " I know what i'm doing".
2. click on (highlight) each occurance of the following, one at a time:

dolsp.dll

3. then click " >>", moving each one, individually, to the 'Remove' pane.
4. (double-check, and make sure that only the above files are in the 'Remove'pane.)
5. click " Finish >>"

Now, let's open a command prompt and unregister the dll(s) we're going to remove, by entering the following:

regsvr32 /u ypdrctmy.dll
regsvr32 /u ofmczvkz.dll

It's ok, if these aren't found or 'error' out. If you want, just copy and paste the individual lines to the command prompt to save on the typing.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

Yea when I run the scan ( not the vx2 removal add-on) it picks it up but usually it says that it can't deleted it and it will delete it on the next reboot. But then it seems like it doesn't do anything because I will scan it again on safe mode and another one just like it pops up even though the actual file is a different name. But it will do the same thing.

MusicRules,

Then let's try this scan...

Download L2mfix from one of these two locations:

Save the file to your desktop and double click l2mfix.exe. Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts, then open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop. Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #1 for Run Find Log by typing 1 and then pressing enter. This will scan your computer and it may appear nothing is happening, then, after a minute or 2, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it into this thread.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run option #2 OR any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Mike.

Ok first of all, even though I am running Windows XP Pro, I can't run the free trendmicro.com scan because it says I need Windows 98 or above, so I couldn't do the free scan. After I did the LSPFix thing, I ran HiJack This. So here's the logfile:

MusicRules,

One quick note:

Before you run the above solution, i'd like you to create a system restore point manually.

MusicRules,

Let's continue on with the fix...

Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.

-

From the l2mfix folder on your desktop, double click l2mfix.bat and select option # 2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing enter, then press any key to reboot your computer. After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder unless you are asked to do so!

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {03BD4C4E-3E45-C11E-4258-4BDC73E01493} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {48C4137F-7E93-561D-9BDE-5EBE25318B09} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5838315D-A4E9-90B0-F2EC-FDC1637E1F54} - (no file)

O20 - Winlogon Notify: Control Panel - C:\WINDOWS\system32\f2l02c3mgf.dll

O23 - Service: nrmkckypxeru (funpwtww6) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\System32\cylmsnae6.exe

Now, with all windows closed except HiJackThis, click " Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

files...

C:\WINDOWS\system32\f2l02c3mgf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\cylmsnae6.exe

-

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Post back a new log, and let me know how everything goes.

-

Mike.
