i-lookup.com adware/spyware removal
I do not know how to remove this from my system. I received some information, but it is not very clear as to how to remove this from my system. The information I received says to open the "Downloaded Program Files" folder in the Windows folder. I can not find this folder. Where would I find this? I have run Spy-bot and McAfee on this and I can not get rid of it. Please help!!!!

Try this tool to submit a full report of your infected system:
Hijackthis (to analyse your system and submit a log file to expert forums):
http://tomcoyote.com/hjt
(for Hijackthis logs...please copy to and run Hijackthis.exe into a new folder you create in the root level of the C: drive. Name this folder HJT for best and safest results).

Texruss:
Thanks for your suggestions. However, I am anovice and know absolutely nothing about computers. I tried to download the suggested Hijackthis and all I received was a message from winzip that this was not a free program. Any other suggestions?

Use these to remove Malware (Virus, Spyware and Adware).
1) SpyBot Search and Destroy
After installing SpyBot Search & Destroy, first press Online, and search for, put a check mark at, and install all updates.
Next, close all Internet Explorer windows, hit 'Check for Problems', and have SpyBot remove all the items it marks in red.
2) Get Ad-Aware
After installing Ad-Aware, and before running the program, first press “check for updates now".
Click "Connect" and install all updated components available. Click 'Finish'.
Press "Scan Now", then 'next', and let Ad-Aware scan your drives.
It will find a number of "bad" files and registry keys. Click 'Next' again.
Check all found items, and click 'next' once more.
It will ask you whether you'd like to remove all checked items. Click OK.
Always reboot the computer between each program - both of these may find things that they need to have a reboot of the machine to clear - please reboot and let them finish .
Failing those solving your problems a post of a hijackthis log for the experts to advise.
HijackThis From Here
or one of these other links:-
http://www.merijn.org/files/hijackthis.zip
http://www.aluriasoftware.com/tools/hijackthis.zip
http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/
Important: Create a folder on the C: drive called C:\HJT.
You can do this by going to My Computer (Windows key+e) then double click on C: then right click and select New then Folder and name it HJT.
Unzip HijackThis into this folder. When you run HijackThis from this folder and have it "Fixed checked" it will create a backup file of modifications to use if restore is necessary. Then run, scan, save log, then in notepad copy the FULL log by copy and paste as a reply to this post and an expert with HijackThis Knowldge, will have a go at giving advice. Please note the list of experts names below, very few forum regulars here have had this training.
DO NOT FIX ANYTHING WITH HIJACKTHIS WITHOUT EXPERT ADVICE, most of what it finds you need for normal MS Windows tasks.

NOTE
==============================
I apologise for this but I am currently working as the main teacher in a anti-malware school at TomCoyote’s with a class of 150.
Others may get round to your post, but I have been the main poster for fixes with hijackthis logs for some time.
I would suggest that you post this at one of the following sites.
http://tomcoyote.com/forums/index.php
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/index.php
http://www.net-integration.net/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi
http://boards.cexx.org/index.php

If going to TomCoyote's please do the following
Register at this page http://tomcoyote.com/reg/
Reply to the validation email.
Then go to this page http://tomcoyote.com/post/
and post your hijackthis log for an expert there to help you.
This is a short term measure while I do some setting up work and TomCoyotes and while I train some others to help here.
Please add a post here so others know which site you are going to, or if you are waiting for one of the other experts.

Winzip is a shareware program, but will unzip the file in Use Evaluation Version button. Follow these directions for creating a HJT folder and downloading Hijackthis:

Just want to thank all of you (Texruss and Chris) for your help in removing i-lookup from my computer. I did what you both suggested and it seems to have worked. I used Spy-bot S&D and did what you suggested and it is working fine.
Thank you so much for your help.
