ahh..OK...I just noticed that there was program running down on the program bar (?), which was a dialog saying "possible vulnerability requiring further update" or similar. I closed that, and the update completed "successfully."

I will do a "Windows Update" again, and if my cancel action caused any problems, hopefully windows update will fix it.
