I'm Bod and here to help you with your Hijack This log.
Please only use this topic for your replies on this problem. Do not start another thread.
The fixes we will use are specific to your problems and should only be used for this problem on this computer.
These things need to be properly researched and a complete fix for many malware problems can take some time and be spread over a number of posts, so please be patient and try to see it through to the end.
I am currently looking over your log and as I am an undergraduate at Malware Removal University, everything that I post to you must be checked by an expert. There may therefore be a slight delay between posts. I will post back as soon as I can.
Thanks,
Bod

I've had a look through your log and there a number of problems to be sorted out.
Before you start, please read through these instructions and make sure that you understand them.
If you are not sure about anything, post a reply in this thread with your questions.
You will be booting into Safe Mode for one step in these instructions, so you should print out these instructions for reference. You will not have internet access in Safe Mode.
Step 1
Click Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.
Allow the list to populate, then click on " Remove" for all of the following programs that appear in the list (not all may be there).
Weatherbug
ShopNav
20-20 Search
Do not reboot until you have attempted to remove all of these entries entries that you find.
Step 2
Press Ctrl-Alt-Del and choose " Task Manager". Click on the " Processes" tab and click on the " Show processes from all users" check box to put a tick in the box. Click on the column heading " Image Name", then look for the following process in the list.
Weather
Click to highlight then click on " End Process". If a process is listed more than once, you need to end all copies of the process.
Close Task Manager.
Step 3
Run Hijack This, don't have any other programs open, and click Scan.
In the scan results, click on the check box for all of the following lines that are present.
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = http://search.shopnav.com/apps/epa/epa?cid=shnv9884&s=
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://www.2020search.com/search/9884/search.html
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =

O23 - Service: .NET Framework Service (.NET Connection Service) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe
Click on " Fix checked".
Step 4
Still in Hijack This, click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service. Enter " .NET Connection Service" (without the quotes - note the full stop character at the begining), click " OK".
Exit Hijack This
Step 5
Re-boot in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during Boot-up and chooing Safe Mode from the boot options list.
Click My Computer > Tools > View, then put a tick in the " Display the contects of system folders" and " Show hidden files and folders" check boxes.
Click " OK".
Navigate to the following folders and files and delete each of them. Some may not be present.
Folders (delete with all contents)
C:\Program Files\AWS\
C:\Program Files\LimeShop\
Files
C:\WINDOWS\2020Search.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\P2SYS.DLL
C:\WINDOWS\SVCHOST.EXE
Be carefull with the last one on the list, there is a legitimate version of svchost.exe in the c:\windows\system32 folder. DO NOT delete this one!
Reboot as normal.
Step 6
Run Hijack This with no other windows open, " Scan", and post the log as a reply to this thread. I'll check it through and get back to you.
Thanks,
Bod

OK..I did step 1 and only weatherbug was found...then when I did Step 2, there was no 'Weather' found. Then with Step 3. I made sure nothing was running...the following were NOT listed :
04-HKCL\.\Run:C:\Program Files\AWS\Weatherbug\Weather.exe1
09-Extra button: Weatherbug -{AF6CABAB-61F9-4f12-A198-B7D41EF1CB52}
But I did put a tick on the rest and then I clicked 'Fix checked'
Step 4. I typed in .NET Connection Service and the following message popped up :
The Service '.NET Connection Service' is enabled/running. Disable it first, using Hijack This itself (from the scan results) or the Services.msc window.
I didn't know what to do...So that is as far as I have gone...what should I do now ?

Hi,
Sorry I wasn't around earlier, that real world nuisance called a job needed some attention!!
I'm going through my posts and emails now and will get back to you soon.
Don't worry, what you've done so far looks OK.

Sorry I wasn't around earlier.
You're doing a good job, don't worry!
The weatherbug problem was fixed by step 1 on it's own, so it's OK that the related parts in steps 2 and 3 were not there.
It's also OK that ShopNav and 20-20 search were not in the list at step 1.
Now for the service problem in step 4.
Hijack This should have diabled it in step 3, that's what the line in the fix
O23 - Service: .NET Framework Service (.NET Connection Service) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\svchost.exe
was for.
Never mind, we'll deal with this another way.
Please follow these instructions.
Before you start, please read through these instructions and make sure that you understand them.
If you are not sure about anything, post a reply in this thread with your questions.
You will be booting into Safe Mode at some point in these instructions, so you should print out these instructions for reference. You will not have internet access in Safe Mode.
Please follow and carry out all the steps in the instructions in the order I've listed them.
Step 1
Click Start->Run and type " Services.msc" (without quotes), click " Ok".
Scroll down and find the service called " .NET Connection Service" (without the quotes - note the full stop character at the begining). When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, click the " Stop" button, then click Properties > General Tab, change the Startup Type to " Disabled". Click Apply > Ok and close any open windows.
Step 2
Run Hijack This, click Config > Misc Tools > Delete an NT service. Enter " .NET Connection Service" (without the quotes - note the full stop character at the begining), click " OK".
Exit Hijack This
I assume that you stopped at this point earlier, so hopefully the service is now deleted and you can carry on with the remaining part of the fix, as follows
Step 3
Step 4
Run Hijack This with no other windows open, " Scan", and post the log as a reply to this thread. I'll check it through and get back to you.
Thanks,
Bod

Thanks for your new Hijack This log. It's clean! Well done!
Just a couple more steps to get rid of those files and do a final scan.
As always, please read through these instructions and make sure that you understand them.
If you are not sure about anything, post a reply in this thread with your questions.
Step 1
Re-boot in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during Boot-up and chooing Safe Mode from the boot options list.
Click My Computer > Tools > View, then put a tick in the " Display the contects of system folders" and " Show hidden files and folders" check boxes.
Click " OK". These are probably still set like this from last time.
Navigate to the following files. To do this, doubleclick " My Computer" on your desktop, then in the window that opens, doubleclick on " Local Disk (c:)".
In the next window that opens, doubleclick on the " Windows" folder, then in the next window, click on " View" on the menu bar across the top of the window and choose " Details". You are now looking at the c:\windows folder, and you can scroll down looking for each of the following files:
2020Search.DLL
P2SYS.DLL
SVCHOST.EXE
Be carefull with the last one on the list, there is a legitimate version of svchost.exe in the c:\windows\system32 folder. DO NOT delete this one!
Delete each of them that you find, some may not be present.
Reboot as normal.
Step 2
Download, install, and update the free version of Ewido Anti Malware from http://www.ewido.net/en/download/.
When installing, under " Additional Options" uncheck " Install background guard" and " Install scan via context menu".
When you run Ewido for the first time, you will get a warning " Database could not be found!". Click " OK". From the main Ewido screen, click on " update" in the left menu, then click " Start update".
After the update finishes, the status bar at the bottom will display " Update successful"
Click Scanner > Complete System Scan, and choose " Remove" then click " OK" for everything found. Beware of false positives, so check each item found before choosing to remove.
At the end of the scan, click " Save Report".
Please copy this log into your next post.
Thanks,
Bod
