invalid syntax error
I have always been able to type in most anything ( dog, cat, airplane, etc.) into the address bar and get information on it. Not too long ago, I noticed that when I typed anything other than a web address, a search engine called Yoogee appeared offering different software and pages and such. It was a pathetic search engine and I had no idea where it came from. I did a little research and decided that it was spyware/adware. So I downloaded Adaware and cleaned things up. Now when I type any subject other than a web address into the address bar, it gives me a blank page and across the top of the monitor in the blue strip, it reads...Invalid syntax error--Microsoft Internet Explorer. What did the clean sweep with Adaware do? The Yoogee is gone, and I wanted that, but I figured some search engine would still be in use after I rid myself of Yoogee. I do not consider myself to be very computer literate. So, if you reply to this, please use language and step-by-step explanations that I can understand. Thank you.

Do you know what your default search engine was? Was it the default that came with " Internet Explorer"?
Try going to this site and installing the MSN Search bar. See if that gets your search function back. Google also makes a good search bar, that includes a pop-up blocker.
If your still having trouble: download, install and run " HiJackThis"; version 1.98.2. Be sure to move it to it's own folder. Click " Scan", then " Save log". Copy/paste the text and post it back here, in this thread. Don't 'check' and 'fix' any entry(s) with it, most of what it reports it 'good'.
Close Notepad and the HiJackThis window.
Mike.
