Hello. I do not have good news for you. I'm sorry that Symantec did not protect you. Your computer has a lot of malware living in it. We cannot be sure that we can clean all of it, nor can we know exactly what changes it has made to the system. If we try to clean it, it will take several days or more, and we still may not be able to find all the malware. 

My suggestion is to do a reformat/reinstall of Windows. You can get help with that HERE

Thank you for the advice.  I had been considering doing this kind of 'wipe' for a little while.  I'm currently a student away from home, but I'll give this a shot when I'm home and have the necessary disks available.  That link will be very helpful.
