Malware: cannot perform Windows Update (Error Code 80072EFE), and system instability.

Hi there, I am having problems with my Dell XPS 420 as it has become infected with some Trojans. I have cleaned as much as I could myself using Malwarebytes, CCleaner and Superantispyware but there are still problems and now as I have found this forum I am now following the guidelines here.

The main symptoms are the Windows Update cannot be performed; Google Chrome was not acting normally, never connecting to homepage; the homepage was redirecting (I am no longer opening any browser windows for now); and system instability in general.
