MCAFEE PRIVACY problem with program MScifapp

MSCIFAPP.exe stops access to Comm Forum

Just for INFO.  I have not been able to get to Dell Comm FOrum due to this program in MCAFEE.  If I do not run MCAFEE Privacy I can get to the forum.

If I run MSCIFAPP then When i select the Dell Comm FOrum, the screen hangs and the CPU usage goes to 100% in the module MSCIFAPP.

NO ONE at Mcafee or Dell have fixed this problem.  It seems that it is MCAFEE problem but I cant get them to accept that.

From answers that work

===================================
Background task which is part of McAfee’s Privacy Service.  McAfee’s Privacy Service is a product which provides Private Information protection while surfing the Internet, popup and popunder advertisements blocking, cookies blocking and management, website filtering and blocking (e.g: for families with children), web sessions & chat monitoring and logging, Internet access restrictions, and age based access levels.

Recommendation :
We do not yet know what this task actually does, but we do know that disabling prevents the Privacy Service from functioning properly.   Leave alone therefore.   That said, at the time of writing, 13‑Dec-2003, this task is not the best behaved task and too often either generates illegal operations at boot‑up or consumes excessive amounts of CPU time causing the PC to slow down significantly as a direct result.   Make sure, therefore, that you regularly check the McAfee site for software updates  (you can do that through the icon in the System Tray).

I had the same problem.

With McAfee Privacy Service enabled, a number of websites, including the Dell Forums, took forever to load.

I posted in the McAfee forums, and I spent 1 and 1/2 hours online with a McAfee tech - no solution could be found.

Finally I uninstalled Privacy Service, and all websites including the Dell forums load virtually instantaneously now.

The day I posted in the McAfee forum, there was another poster with the same issue.

In case anyone asks (again), my privacy service was the latest version, in my configuration I allow all cookies, no web sites are blocked, and I run XP (XPS gen 3).

There is definitely a bug in the program.

scooby:  I have posted this problem on the mcafee post.  As you will see they MCAFEE say its not the module.

However, I can prove it by just ending the module when the screen is just sitting there and the module is taking 97% >  CPU.  In fact I have gone to the web sie of applevacations and tried to bring the calendar feature up, it displays but you cant move to the next month.  I end the MScifapp and WALLA I get the screen.

HUMMMMMMMM   sounds to me like mscifapp is the big bad wolf

Sure,  but McAfee, or any other company like it,  will never admit there is a bug in their program.
