Microsoft was hacked

A global Microsoft Azure outage impacted a range of services for consumers on Tuesday July 30 with reports of stalling Outlook emails to trouble ordering on Starbucks' mobile app.

It was triggered by a distributed denial of service cyberattack (DDoS) when adversaries flooded their service with traffic in order to bring it to a standstill. Took them ~10 hours to recover.
