Hi lowendgeorge,

If the tool bar has got installed on your system without your consent then it should be malware or adware. That is the reason system restore may also be corrupted. Please let me know the tool bar name and the browser it’s attached with so that I could suggest you the removal steps.

Hi,

Prior to receiving your message, I was able to uninstall the tool bar by clicking firefox, add ons, then, extensions, followed by uninstall. So that worked in regards to the toolbar. Now, I still need to remove the bing page powered by conduit that still reveals as my home page. And I am still unable to system restore as well. I was following your directions, though informative, I seem to get stuck on ''click on the toolbar or search engine.'' I have already removed the toolbar. I cannot find any program on my control panel that reflects to search engine or conduit, as it seems that conduit hides very well. Hope this does not sound confusing. I look forward to your response. Thanks.

Hi Jorge,

There are many variants to this infection.  You may have one that has not been completely cleaned by the above methods.

If you ran Malwarebytes, please post your log in your next reply. Another option that you may want to eventually do regardless is to post the required DDS logs on the Malware Removal Forum at SpywareHammer and have the staff trained in malware removal walk you through the diagnostic logs and a cleanup. They do not use remote access but will advise you step-by-step on what you can do. Please do not attempt to run any additional scans, install software, or use any other tools until an analyst can advise you on the next step. Please use the same username there as you have here. Help is free, but you will need to register there and follow the posting instructions.

The instructions will inform you of where to download DDS and how to run a scan to post the output information. Don't forget to check your email and click on the link they send you in order to confirm your registration.
