MSN causes a kernel32 error, which then crashes the computer
Hello all,
I hope I'm in the right place for this.. Here is the problem I've been having recently:
About 15-20 minutes after I start using MSN and Internet Explorer, I get an error message saying "MSN has caused an error in kernel32.dll and will now close." This is followed by a DdHelp error and an krnl386.exe error, and as a result of all that (after I press clsoe, close close on all error messages) my system basically crashes, I can maybe still use IE for a bit, but that'll crash eventually, and I can't even shut down or restart immediately after that error.
Some technical specs: I use Windows Millenium, MSN Version 9.0 and Internet Explorer 6.0. Also, I regularly run Norton Antivirus as well as Spybot and Ad-aware, and neither program finds any problems with my computer.
Any assistance or redirection would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Hi ninask, If a virus/trojan/hijacker or some other form of malware is creating the issue, then you are in the right place. Lets please start like this, back on the page where you posted your message, here:
http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_virus You might have missed a VIP "Pinned" post at the top called:
Notice to HijackThis Posters and Responders, that post is here:

If you will take the time to review that post, including the various informational links, many of your questions will be answered, including how to properly post a log for the experts to review. There is also information about how to configure your Ad-aware and Spybot S&D for maximum efficiency. After you review this information, and follow the instructions, if you have questions, please post them in this same thread. Thanks...pskelley
