Welcome to the DCF forums.
The instructions in this thread have been specifically designed for THIS USER'S MACHINE ONLY . You should not use these instructions to clean your machine. Doing so could cause irreparable damage to your machine. If you need assistance, please start your own thread.
A couple of important things to keep in mind during our fix.
Remember, we are in this process together. We must cooperate with each other or the fix will surely fail.
If there is something you don't understand or or are unsure of -- Please Do not skip it. Instead, take a moment to ask. With some infections skipping a step can be disastrous.
That being said, let's get started. :)
Please disable Windows Defender Real Time Protection as it may interfere with the fix. To disable Windows Defender:
- Open Windows Defender
- Click Tools
- Click General Settings
- Scroll down to Real Time Protection Options
- Uncheck Turn on Real Time Protection (recommended)
- Close Windows Defender
Once your log is clean you can re-enable Windows Defender Real Time Protection. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.
- Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
- At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
- If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
- Once the program has loaded, select Perform Quick Scan
- Click Scan.
- When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
- Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
- When completed, a log will open in Notepad.
- Please save it to your desktop.
NOTE: Logs can be retrieved at a later date from the Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware main screen:If Malware is found...
Run HiJackThis Right-click the HijackThis icon on your desktop. Select Run As Administrator. Click "Do a system scan only", then check(tick) the following, if present:
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MSSMSGS] rundll32.exe winnuz32.rom,LNiRun
With all windows closed except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".
In your reply please include:
- The results from the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan.
- A fresh HijackThis log.
Let me know if things are running better or if you are still experiencing problems. Please be as specific as possible, the more details we have the better we can help you. :) -- SCBninnypoop

Thank you for your help so far. I think the most important fixes are that the hardrive isn't making the "working hard" sound any longer, it's nice and quiet, and there haven't been anymore forceful pop ups followed by a mozilla crash.
Somethings from the "fix" in hijacklog did not fix, and there were 2 .dll errors upon startup after reboot.
Keep the thoughts coming, they are greatly appreciated.

Those missing rundll files at startup are...
c:\users\morgan\appdata\local\temp\hgGwXqoI.dll
and
c:\users\morgan\appdata\local\temp\cbxqkhig.dll
any thoughts on that business??

Yes, there are a couple of things that Malwarebytes Anti-Malware was unable to take care of. In the next step, we are going to be using a very powerful tool called "ComboFix". It's extremely important that you follow the directions carefully. You may want to print them out so that you can refer to them as you proceed.
Please follow this link to the How to Use Combofix tutorial at bleepingcomputer.com.
>>>If you already have Combofix, delete previous copy(s) and download the latest version.<<<
Read this guide carefully and install the Recovery Console first.
The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.
Once installed, you should see a blue screen prompt that says:
The Recovery Console was successfully installed.
***If you have an "always on" Internet connection, unplug from your DSL/cable modem before proceeding. Reconnect only after Combofix has finished its scan.***
Please continue with the scan as follows:
***Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall***
In your next post, please include
***use separate posts if necessary to ensure the logs don't get cut off!***
We must have the complete logs, including all headers. The following procedure will make sure that this happens. Incidentally, this procedure will work in pretty much any program where you might want to copy/paste the entire contents, without missing anything (quick tip).
- Open file (in this case C.:\Combofix.txt).
- Hit Ctrl+a to select entire contents.
- Hit Ctrl+c to copy entire contents.
- Hit Ctrl+v to paste contents into your reply.
You can repeat this procedure to post your HijackThis log. :) -- SCB
