need help removing malware 'storageprotector'

Hello,   My computer has been infected with malware called 'storageprotector'.  There are two new links on my desktop called 'windows update' & 'help and support center' that cannot be removed/deleted without regenerating themselves.   I have tried to manually remove this spyware with instructions from the following site: http://www.411-spyware.com/remove-storageprotector. However, I was unable to locate many of the processes, registry values, DLLs, files, and directories that were listed to remove.
