Need help removing winantispyware, blackworm, and so forth.

Question

Lately I've been having problems with popups from various websites including pornography and it's been getting worse lately.  Ran Norton Antivirus along with spybot S & D.  Thanks a lot in advance, it looks like you guys do a good job on this forum. Please download Atribune's VundoFix.exe from here: http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 Please download VundoFix.exe to your desktop. * Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it. * Put a check next to Run VundoFix as a task. * You will receive a message saying vundofix will close and re-open in a minute or less. Click OK * When VundoFix re-opens, click the Scan for Vundo button. * Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button. * You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES * Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo. * When completed, it will prompt that it will shutdown your computer, click OK. * Turn your computer back on. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components: 1. Close any open programs you may have running, especially your web browser 2. Click Start > Control Panel * Depending on your OS or configuration, you may have to click Start >Settings > Control Panel 3. Open Add or Remove Programs * If you have Windows 98 or Windows 2000, open Add/Remove Programs 4. Click once on any item listing Java Runtime Environment in the name * Not every version of Java will begin with 'Java' so be sure to read each entry in the list 5. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button 6. Follow steps 4 and 5 as many times as necessary to remove all versions of Java. ** If at any time during the uninstallations, you are asked to reboot, do so. Hi

Let's look for, and delete, any program segments( prefetches) that might be present, and are associated with the ' problems' we're trying to remove from this system. To do this, let's:

1) Click " Start | Search", then search for each of these program's base name(s), in all files and folders:

LTMSG.exe*

2) Then if any are found in the ' prefetch' folder, delete them.

Look closely, since the ' base' name will have a bunch of random numbers and letters attached to it.

Run HiJackThis then:

1. Click " Config..."
2. Click " Misc Tools"
3. Click " Open Process manager"

Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate ( if present) and click on ( highlight) each of the following:

C:\WINDOWS\LTMSG.exe

Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click " Kill process". Now, click " Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

Run HiJackThis and click " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = http://us10.hpwis.com/

Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

Search for...
LTMSG.exe
ALCXMNTR.EXE

...using " Start | Search...".

Note that some of these file(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're ' in use', try deleting them from " Safe Mode".

Reboot and post back a new log.

  8. When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  9. If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.
Next press the Apply button and then the OK to exit the Internet Properties page.
Use an Anti Virus Software - It is very important that your computer has an anti-virus software running on your machine. This alone can save you a lot of trouble with malware in the future. See this link for a listing of some on line & their stand-alone anti virus programs:

Update your Anti Virus Software - It is imperitive that you update your Anti virus software at least once a week (Even more if you wish). If you do not update your anti virus software then it will not be able to catch any of the new variants that may come out.
Use a Firewall - I can not stress how important it is that you use a Firewall on your computer. Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. Visit Microsoft's Windows Update Site Frequently - It is important that you visit http://www.windowsupdate.com regularly. This will ensure your computer has always the latest security updates available installed on your computer. If there are new updates to install, install them immediately, reboot your computer, and revisit the site until there are no more critical updates.
Install Spybot - Search and Destroy - Install and download Spybot - Search and Destroy with its TeaTimer option.
This will provide real-time spyware & hijacker protection on your computer alongside your virus protection. You should also scan your computer with program on a regular basis just as you would an anti virus software. A tutorial on installing & using this product can be found here:

Update all these programs regularly - Make sure you update all the programs I have listed regularly. Without regular updates you WILL NOT be protected when new malicious programs are released.
