need to speed-up computer
I wanted to know if anyone could help me clean up my computer. It's been running a little slow and I want to get it up to speed for when I start school. Thank you!

Greetings Sarah,
It seems that your Windows Indexing Service (C:\WINDOWS\system32\cidaemon.exe) is slowing down your computer... I have supplied a link to a write up about this, and how to turn off the Indexing Service - http://www.tweakxp.com/display.aspx?id=545 - adding to that, to disable the indexing service, locate "Index Service" on the Services menu, then right click on it, then hit "stop"... Your computer should speed up after that.
I'd also like to add that I saw a few files listed under startup that appear suspicious... When was the last time you ran AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy?

Thank you-I found the Indexing Service and turned it off as you suggested.
In response to your question, I try to run Spybot and Adaware at least once a week each. Sometimes more. I have McAfee Virus scan run automatically every morning as well, just in case. What programs looked suspicious to you? I really don't know much about computers, but I try to learn. I run HijackThis occasionally and get rid of things I know shouldn't be there but there are always several things I myself am unsure about.

If that's the case, then my worries are over. Adaware and Spybot would have caught them if they were bad.
