At the top of this link im giving you just follow the instructions for uninstalling other A/V before installing KIS 6.0.It will give you the best procedure to avoid any conflicts with installing KIS.I hope you are as pleased with Kaspersky as much as i am.

Thanks for the info Trail, I see you're running Spysweeper 5.0, in your opinion is it better than Ad-Aware SE Plus?

I would say yes.SpySweeper always ranks among the best A/S programs. To be honest though the only reason i still use it  is that my license hasn't expired yet but once it does I'll probaly be done with it.On that forum link i gave you search around and most people at the forum seem to agree that Kis 6.0 with the proactive defense and web antivirus configured right is more than enough spyware protection. Some people still keep a free ondemand scanner just to make themselves feel safer.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. Do you know if Windows Defender will conflict with KIS?

The only programs i have read about on the Kaspersky forum that sometimes conflict are CounterSpy and SpywareDoctor. But some people say they run them with no conflicts.

There are conflicts among those type of programs. You are only supposed to be running One AS shield at all times.

The more As shield patterns being ran at the same time the less chance their is for an aquadate program to function properly also causing memory conflicts and possibly crashes and errors.

Are you referring to ANTI-VIRUS or anti-spyware?

I'm running several realtime anti-spyware scanners. Should I remove a couple?

Gmanson:

I have run more than one antispyware scanner in realtime (Defender, WinPatrol, CounterSpy) and have never had a problem with them conflicting. I think, as a general rule, one should only run one resident antispyware, and keep the others as backups for on-demand scanning. But  that rule is not as absolute as it is for AV programs. Can you give an example?

" Warning - installing several Anti-Spyware programs is fine, but I've seen too many cases where there are several of these running in the background. Most of these type Security programs are compatible with each other, however it is never recommended to have more than one program monitoring for changes in your system."

Compare mcafee and norton. And what do you think of those being on one machine with windows defender and teatimer with spywareguard and winpatrol and rogueremover etc with sd and za. The pc would be really slow.

At least one perhaps antispyware with antivirus could be ran but i dont recommend it unless you think you need it. Only run one at a time then close and proceed to the next one if there is an update.
