No Desktop Missing error wininet.dll missing.
This problem is on my 2003 Inspiron Laptop with Windows XP Home Edition on it. I am using my desktop to write this. I am not a computer geek. Just a simple user OK?::womanwink:
I did Restore twice back to back trying to get back some information I needed and then it wouldn't bring up my desktop. I had password protected my screen name account and I can enter my password but I can only get as far as my blank desktop with no start menu or icons. I can open the task menu and it has a message of bcmwltry.exe- unable to locate component. When I try to use the Dell Utilities and Drivers disk I got a message Explorer.exe- unable to locate component.
I had recently uninstalled AOL and the whole security suite and installed Prevx 2.0 and AVG. Prior to doing the System Restore. I was hoping that I could undo the Restores to fix it but I can't get there. I can run Hijack this but have no idea what to tell it to fix.:womansurprised:
I have never had a problem with this PC before and this is weird to me.
I hope someone has an easy fix for this. I have a lot of stuff on my laptop that I hate to lose.
My email address is FreeDove2001@aol.com if you want to email me some help tips.
Thank you,
FreeDove:womanhappy:
