GPT,

With OE open, click on "Tools"-"Options..."-"Security" tab- uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentially be a virus." Click "Apply" and "OK" out.

Hi.  You are less protected.  In other words, if you were to open an attachment for which there is currently no virus signature in your McAfee, then you will become infected.  It is therefore imperative to keep your virus checker updated.

You should also not open any attachments from anyone that you do not know.  If you receive an unexpected attachment from someone that you do know, it is wise to check with them to see if they really did send you one (due to the large number of trojans that send malicious attachments from another person's computer using their address book).

GPT,

I am not familiar with McAfee as I use Norton AV. Norton does have a setting to check emails for viruses, so I would assume McAfee should have this feature also. If so, make sure you have this feature enabled.

Thanks, BBlackie and Warren for your advise. I will look into McAfee and try to keep it updated.
