Outlook not sending mail.
Hi there I desperately need someone's help!
My Outlook Office seems to be working fine on the surface, it can receive messages, but when I try and send anything it bounces back with the message:
"Task pop.ntlworld.com sending reported error (0x8004210B) The operation timed out waiting for a response from the SMTP server."
I have spoken to my tech support line who were completely useless, I've tried removing the email acct and setting up a new one, and switching to Outlook Express (same problem occurs).
I really have no idea what to do, I've turned to the forums in the past and they've always helped, so, please, anybody...do youknow what I can do to fix it?! It's v.frustrating.
Just so you know, I run XP Home ed, SP2, Norton AV, Windows Firewall - and I've tried turning these on and off and the problem still persists!!!!
It's been like this now for about 2 days, I think it MIGHT have started after I was fiddling with Exceptions on the Windows Firewall, but I'm not certain...
...to misquote my favourite Princess 'Help me Dell Forums, you're my only hope!!!!!!!!!'

Chris Sealey,
Try this. Start Outlook, go to Tools, then E-mail Accounts. Select View or Change existing e-mail account, then Next. Double click your email account, select More Settings. In the Advance tab change server timeout from 1 minute to more.
This has worked for some people and may help you. If not, you can always set it back to 1 minute.
To make sure it's not your firewall you can always temporarily turn it off.

Before you can send and receive emails using outlook express, you first have to set it up, (tell it what your email address is and where to find your emails) to do this follow the steps outlined below:
If that doesnt work, get onto NTL helpdesk
