PaleMoon for XP (Binary Outcast) ending support; switch to Atom version

The Binary Outcast PaleMoon for XP (PM4XP) will deliver its final update, ending support, on 14 July 2015.   The sole change in this update is to disable the internal updater for PM4XP so that it does not continue to ping their server with requests for another update that will never come.   No other functional changes will be made.

Users "stuck" on XP may consider switching to the Pale Moon for Atom version, which will be maintained by MoonChild "indefinitely".   The Atom version of the browser is intended for low power processors and does have an optimization bias toward the Atom architecture. However, in practical use, this bias has very little impact on non-Atom processors. It also has a few tweaks geared to systems with low resources as well as does not include the web developer tools.

I just downloaded and installed the Pale Moon for Atom Processor version, as an upgrade on top of  the existing Binary Outcast PM4XP version.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that all my existing bookmarks, add-ons, and search engines were preserved/transferred.

So it appears to be a very easy switch-over :emotion-2: .

I have yet to observe any difference in behavior... perhaps it runs a little slower, but that may just be my 9-year old Centrino Core Duo processor :emotion-5: .

Remark:   One of the technical requirements of PM/Atom version is "a processor with SSE2 capabilities".   I confirmed my processor's capability by running a tiny utility called CPU-Z  (Warning:   MBAM may object to this --- at least the old version I had --- as a PUP.   Be careful not to install any unwanted/unnecessary extras.)
