Pandasoftware Activescan error

In order to double check for viruses, I attempted to use Activescan today.  I had used it about a couple weeks ago as per instructions on HJT board.  I got a message saying to restart the computer but before I did an other error message that said something about an issue with the download unable to scan.  Should I have used add/remove programs to uninstall before trying to use it again?  It was as if the software had not been downloaded before.

 

I also got avgcc caused an error in gdi.exe message while trying to search for info on the internet.
