I'm just adding that an application called "Proxy Desktop" had to be forcibly closed as I was doing a restart just now. The reason for the restart was that Firefox was almost hanging. I find it curious that as I search the computer for this file, the result is negative, but instead of telling me that there's no file it says that "no results can be displayed". Perhaps that is the same, or perhaps it won't tell me because the file is on a section of the computer to which my user doesn't have access?

As I use IE now for posting this (I usually always use Firefox) I notice a pop-up that masquerades as a system message, with the bluescreen even in the background and a faked system error warning box informing that spyware is present and urging the user to run a cleaning process. This looks almost like a system message except that it's a maximized IE window. The domain is pc-on-internet.com (I think). I'm sure many users will be tricked into engaging this program and following its directions. I tried to block the domain in IE's security settings, but I got the usual error message that I need administrator privileges in order to perform this task.
